Gaza – Saba:
A one-and-a-half-year-old Palestinian girl died Friday in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip, due to severe malnutrition. This marks the second child victim from malnutrition in Gaza within 24 hours.
Medical sources report that hospitals across the Strip are overwhelmed, treating hundreds of individuals of all ages suffering from acute hunger and malnutrition.
UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) previously warned that malnutrition among children under five had doubled between March and June, a direct consequence of the ongoing Israeli siege.
UNRWA screenings identified approximately 5,500 cases of acute malnutrition and over 800 severe cases among children.
