MOSCOW Apr 14. 2024 (Saba) - The commander of the air and missile defense forces, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Force, Lieutenant General Andrei Semenov, announced on Sunday that the Russian air defense forces destroyed during the period of the special military operation more than 30,000 air targets launched by Kiev.
Sputnik reported that this came during the anniversary of the Russian Air Defense Forces Day, where the Russian Defense Ministry quoted Semenov as saying, "So far, our military has destroyed more than 30,000 enemy air targets. These include tactical aircraft, tactical missiles, multi-barrel launcher missiles, drones and anti-radar missiles."
He added that the collective strikes of the enemy on the cities of Bryansk, Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh and targets in the western European part of the Russian Federation, Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory were successfully repelled.
He noted that from the first days of the special military operation, the military units of air defense and missile defense units actively participated in the fight against enemy air assets in the combat zone, as well as covering border areas and installations deep into Russia.
He revealed that the experience of using air defense systems within the framework of the special operation will be taken into account when improving air defense capabilities.
Existing forms and methods of using military formations, units and air defence force units were being improved, and in addition, new approaches to the use of existing equipment were being developed and implemented.
