HAJJAH March 17. 2024 (Saba) - The Public Health and Population Office in Hajjah Governorate has achieved a qualitative leap in implementing infrastructure projects and developing health services in the governorate center and districts during the year 2023.

During the past year, the governorate health office focused on implementing projects in accordance with the national vision for building the modern Yemeni state and the plans and programs of the Ministry of Health and Population, the local authority, and health office in the studied governorate to cover the need for health facilities in a way that ensures the continuity of providing and developing health services and improving health performance.

The Health Office administration was keen to deliver health services to directorates and remote areas to alleviate the suffering of traveling for treatment in distant directorates and areas, in addition to developing services in central hospitals to cover the needs of neighboring directorates.

During the past period, the Public Health and Population Office implemented 83 various projects distributed among 197 health facilities in the governorate center and all directorates, including infrastructure projects and the provision of medical supplies, equipment, devices, solar energy systems, and furniture.

The Health Department also worked on implementing expansion projects for a number of facilities, maintenance, rehabilitation and restoration work, and preparing studies at a total cost of 3 million 760 thousand and 850 dollars.

The number of projects completed by 100 percent reached 46 projects, while work is still underway on the rest of the projects that will be completed during the coming period and the first half of the current year 2024.

A report issued by the Public Health and Population Office in the governorate, a copy of which received by the Yemeni news agency Saba, confirmed the completion of the implementation of projects to build an incinerator and an earthen tank with a capacity of 500 cubic meters in Qalf Shammar Hospital, a health unit in Washha and Azam Al-Wahda, health units in Mastaba, an earthen tank, an incinerator, and a bathroom in two health units in Bani Arjan and Al-Kharaza.

According to the report, projects were completed to build the second floor of the health center in Sharas Bridge, along with the restoration and equipping of the first floor, a fence, and a ground tank for the health unit in Abs, as well as the obstetric emergency department at the health center in Aflah al-Sham.

It reported the completion of projects to build warehouses and a room, provide a solar energy system, and restore the former building of Al-Thuluth Hospital in Aslam, the Al-Maharat Unit, the General Emergency Department in Abs, and the Health Unit in Medi.

The report noted the completion of the construction, expansion and restoration of the health unit in Washha and the construction, expansion and restoration of the health unit in the directorate in Khairan and the health unit in Al-Jabri in Abs and the western side on the second floor of the fever center in the same directorate.

The completed renovation and rehabilitation projects included 15 health facilities in the water and environmental sanitation component in the districts of Al-Shaghadara, Kahlan Afar, Bani Qais, Mustaba, and Abs, and the restoration of the facilities of Al-Sharhat, Al-Muqamwa, Al-Mallah, Al-Nid, Al-Sharaqi, and Al-Zih in Bakil Al-Mir, Aflah Al-Sham, Mustaba, Al-Shahil, and the health center in Masrouh in Khairan Al-Muharraq.

The report stated that the restoration of the Al-Shawarfa centers in Khairan Al-Muharraq and Bani Omar in Kushar had been completed, the aluminum partitions for the health center in A’im in Kushar had been completed, and the health unit in Bani Adhabi in Abs and the health unit in Bani Qaydan in Kahlan Afar had been equipped.

According to the report, the partial restoration of a health center and three health units in Al-Muftah District, the Beit Al-Umaisi and Al-Muhammar units in Wadrah, the restoration of the health center in Khawlan, the Bani Aishan and Al-Salba units in the Hajjah and Al-Shaghra countryside districts, and the health unit in Al-Ma’asara in Abs, in addition to the partial restoration of Qafel Shammar Hospital were completed.

As part of the Health Office’s plans to provide the needs of health facilities with equipment, furniture, and solar energy systems, the report stated that 17 facilities in the districts of Wadhara, Al-Madina, Al-Shaghra, Mabin, Bani Qais, Aslam, and Bani Al-Awwam provided with solar energy systems.

The report stated that 4 solar systems, furniture and medical equipment were provided to 4 health facilities in Wadhra and Qara, and 7 health facilities in Aslam, Abs and Midi were provided with medical equipment and furniture, in addition to providing a number of medical equipment and furniture to Qafel Shammar Hospital and 5 facilities in Khairan Al-Muharraq and Kashhar, including 4 devices CBC.

It reported the completion of the provision of medical equipment and laboratory units for 6 health units in the Kaaidna district, and the installation of a caravan with a solar energy system at the health point in Al-Maqghi in Abs, along with its equipment and an electricity generator for Qafel Shammar Hospital.

According to the report, RAY digital x-rays were supplied to Qalf Shammar Hospital, the health unit in Diban in Bani al-Adhabi in Abs district was equipped, the bills of quantities were approved for the restoration of 6 health units in the Ka`idna district, and a study conducted to restore and rehabilitate 5 health facilities in Qalf Shammar.

The director of the health office in the governorate, Dr. Ahmed Al-Kahlani, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that work underway to implement many projects, the most important of which building the health center in Al-Dhahra in Al-Jumaimah, providing a dialysis station with its annexes to the Abs Center, rehabilitating Housh, and paving the central warehouse yard in the governorate center.

He pointed to the completion of more than 60 percent in the projects of building an emergency unit, a generator room, and an incinerator, equipping care and emergency, rehabilitating the courtyard of the Martyr Al-Kahlani Hospital in Mubin, and equipping the operations, care, and laboratory at Al-Thuluth Hospital in Aslam.

He reported the completion of more than 40 percent in the project to build an obstetric emergency center for the health center in Al-Dhahr in Aslam, and more than 25 percent in the project to build warehouses for Kahlan Al-Sharaf Hospital, with the restoration of the previous building, incinerator, and generator room, in addition to purchasing and supplying an electricity generator for the same hospital.

Dr. Al-Kohlani also reported that two tenders were issued to purchase equipment for Al-Thuluth Hospitals in Aslam, Al-Shaheed Al-Kahlani Hospitals in Mubin, and Kahlan Al-Sharaf Hospitals, and partial equipment for 4 health facilities in Abs.

He noted the continuation of the implementation of projects to supply and install 4 containers to create health points in the districts of Mastaba and Bani Qais, and the construction of Alyan units and the second floor of the Beit Al-Qahmi unit in Bani Al-Awam, and Beit Salama, Al-Amarah and Al-Azi in the Najra and Dhahr Abu Tir district, and the groups in Al-Shaghadara.

The Director of the Health Office explained that work is underway to prepare studies to supply and install solar energy systems for 27 health facilities in the governorate center and the districts of Abs, Sharas, Najra, Kushar, Aflah al-Yaman, Aflah al-Sham, Bani Qais, Hajjah countryside, Wadha and Mustaba.

He stressed the health office’s keenness to complete studies on projects to restore and equip the Raqi Center in Mastaba, rehabilitate the health unit in Al-Dabub in Najra, partially equip the laundry center in Abs, and prepare the bills of quantities for the partial restoration of the Al-Rabu’ unit in Matola in the same directorate.

He also confirmed the completion of 60 percent in the implementation of two projects to renovate five health facilities in Aslam District, build the malnutrition treatment department at Abs Hospital and the second floor of the specialists’ housing building, conduct studies to complete rehabilitation projects for the mobile health unit within the Eco project in Mastaba, and build health units in Bani Daoud and Al-Maqayt in Abs and Mabah Al-Rawdah at the laundry center in the same directorate.

He pointed out that studies have been prepared to build a health unit in Al-Hadab in Mastaba, build ground and tower tanks, or dig wells for 9 health facilities in Al-Maghribah, Bani Al-Awam, Washha, Al-Mahabsha, Kahlan Al-Sharaf, Al-Shaghra, Khairan Al-Muharraq, Kaaidna, Qafel Shammar, and the emergency obstetric unit in A’im Bakshar.

Dr. Al-Kahlani noted the completion of 80 percent in implementing projects to supply solar energy systems to the centers of Bani Al-Awam, Aflah Al-Sham and Al-Tur in Bani Qais.

He pointed out that studies have been prepared and tenders have been issued for the restoration of health units in the areas of Bani Yus, Bani Khawz, Bayt al-Jabal, Jabal Haram, Bani Subaih, Bani Falah, Bani Haidan, al-Jannah, al-Shuja’a, al-Dana’i, Bani Hashid, al-Arif, al-Hazna, Bayt al-Qahmi, al-Qadha’, al-Qafaliyah, Jabal Nimr, Bani Shahr, Jahama, Dhu Haasir, al-Marabaha, al-Aridh, Gharib and al-Marjala.

According to the director of the governorate’s health office, the tender also includes the restoration of the centers of Al-Jawana, Al-Shahid Al-Sammad, Bani Maji’ and Bani Asad.

He pointed out that a study had been completed to supply and install solar energy systems for Al-Sarhat and diarrhea treatment centers in Al-Jumaa, Al-Sharaqi, Riyad Muttah, and Al-Hakamiya, in addition to the medicine store in the governorate.

The Director of the Health Office attributed the achievements achieved in the health sector to the great coordination between the leaders of the Ministry of Health, the local authority, and the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and their keenness to provide the needs of health sector in the governorate.

He appreciated the role of humanitarian partners in implementing sustainable projects in the health sector, stressing the necessity of expanding the circle of interventions to include the largest number of areas in the governorate and preparing to overcome all obstacles facing the implementation of such projects.
