Hodeidah February 02. 2024 (Saba) - The Office of Public Works and Roads in Hodeidah Governorate crowned its achievements in keeping pace with the service needs system with a map of specific projects targeting the governorate center and all districts, embodying a plan to rehabilitate, maintain, and develop services for construction, asphalting, paving, widening roads, and other services.

The implementation of the majority of these projects, with the tireless efforts of the governorate leadership and the Public Works Office through the Executive Unit for Projects and Maintenance, represented a major challenge in mobilizing all financial resources in order to complete them according to different time stages, some of which focused on addressing the damage caused to the service side as a result of being targeted by the aggression and its tools.

Despite the difficulties and overall challenges faced by the local authority in the governorate in providing financing according to the financial value of the contracts for each project, the determination and extent of the need for these projects represented the greatest motivation for efforts to complete and complete them in order to fill the service gaps.

While several areas in the districts of Hodeidah Governorate were subjected to severe damage and widespread and systematic destruction of basic service projects, roads, bridges and the infrastructure of many service facilities due to raids and escalation of aggression and mercenaries, efforts, after the enemy’s defeat from the governorate, were directed to adopting the implementation of a matrix of strategic development projects.

The projects within the investment program of the local authority in Hodeidah Governorate, which were completed, according to the latest report issued by the Office of Public Works and Roads, included 52 projects at a total cost of 23 billion and 482 million and 338 thousand riyals, distributed among 38 projects in the field of roads at a cost of 19 billion and 48 million and 548 thousand and 990. riyals, and 14 projects in various service fields at a cost of four billion and 433 million and 789 thousand riyals.

Road projects constituted the main priority, as projects were completed to construct a number of streets in the Bajil District at a cost of 41 million and 390 thousand riyals, and to construct a number of streets in the Bayt al-Faqih District at a cost of 31 million and 27 thousand riyals, and to construct a number of streets in the Al-Qanawis District at a cost of 41 million and 604 thousand riyals. .

The paving of the street leading to the local council of Al-Hali District in Al-Zaafran neighborhood was also completed at a cost of 297 million and 193 thousand riyals, and the paving of the streets in Al-Taawoun neighborhood was completed at an amount of 235 million and 525 thousand riyals, and the paving of the remainder of Al-Hawk neighborhood was completed at an amount of 147 million and 487 thousand riyals.

According to the report, the rainwater drainage project in front of Al-Yemen Lane in Hodeidah City was completed at a cost of 118 million and 905 thousand riyals, and the construction of high-voltage electricity towers on Al-Arbaeen Street at a cost of 45 million and 650 thousand riyals, and the completion of asphalting the streets in Jewar Unit 317 in Al-Hali District at a cost of 199 million and 370 thousand riyals.

Among the completed road projects is the asphalting of a number of streets in the 7th of July neighborhood in Al-Hali District at a cost of 180 million riyals within the plan approved, the restoration and maintenance of a number of streets in the Ghalil neighborhood in Al-Hawk District at a cost of 246 million and 485 thousand riyals, and the drainage of rainwater in Abbasa and Sanaa Streets in the Al-Mina District. At a cost of 299 million and 821 thousand riyals.

The report indicated the completion of the rainwater drainage project next to the Education Office in the Al-Mina Directorate, the first phase, at a cost of 228 million and 397 thousand riyals, and the restoration and maintenance of the entrance to the city of Bajil at the beginning of the entrance to Al-Kadan Road, at a cost of 153 million and 937 thousand riyals, and the asphalting of a number of streets in Al-Shuhada’a Neighborhood and Palestine Neighborhood in the Directorate. The current cost is 211 million and 972 thousand riyals, and the completion of the rainwater drainage channel - Corniche clock tour, phase two, at a cost of 299 million and 220 thousand riyals.

The Dammamiya-Al-Khalifa road was also built and filled at a cost of 94 million and 519 thousand riyals, and three barriers were implemented in Wadi More, Al-Gharza village, at a cost of 28 million and 186 thousand riyals, and the asphalting of the eastern Al-Arbaeen Street in the city of Bajil at a cost of 401 million and 82 thousand riyals, and the implementation of a rainwater drainage canal on Al-Shaheed Street. Al-Samad, at a cost of 486 million and 497 thousand riyals, and stone paving of a number of streets in Al-Najda Street with an area of 800 meters, at a cost of 329 million and 502 thousand riyals.

According to the report of the Public Works Office, a number of streets were paved and paved with stones in the old industrial zone, the first phase, at a cost of 609 million and 476 thousand riyals, and stone paving was done in Square 1 in the Ghalil neighborhood at a cost of 316 million and 385 thousand riyals, and the completion of the first phase of the rainwater drainage canal project on Jamal Street. In the city of Hodeidah at a cost of 593 million and 350 thousand riyals, and the restoration, asphalt and paving of the street linking Jamal Street and Al-Arbaeen Street in the Ghalil neighborhood at a cost of 222 million and 635 thousand riyals.

He also reported the completion of the rainwater drainage project in the city for the fourth phase at a cost of 157 million and 554 thousand riyals, as well as the completion of the rainwater drainage project in front of the Kuwait Mosque at a cost of 87 million and 280 thousand riyals, and the completion of the implementation of the rainwater drainage canal - Corniche Hour Tour, the third phase, at a cost of 704 million and 734 million riyals. One thousand riyals, and the restoration of a number of streets in the city of Hodeidah by restoring excavations and making an asphalt layer in the first phase, at a cost of 584 million and 995 thousand riyals.

The completed projects included in the Public Works and Roads section also included removing dirt barriers from the entrances to Hodeidah at a cost of 80 million riyals, completing urgent repairs to maintain and restore Corniche Street and Shahid Al-Samad Street at a cost of 86 million riyals, and repairing potholes and trenches in the Kilo 16 Surgical Road and Zabid at a cost of 75 million and 127 million riyals. One thousand riyals, and the maintenance of the Al-Jarhazi agricultural barrier in Wadi Zabid, amounting to 28 million and 690 thousand riyals.

The report indicated that emergency service works were dealt with at a cost of 100 million riyals, and equipment was purchased for Raymah Governorate at a cost of 300 million riyals, as well as the purchase of road equipment for the executive unit and works in Hodeidah at a cost of 751 million and 286 thousand riyals, and the restoration of trenches, sidewalks and curbs for the Dune Road at a cost of 96 million and 157 thousand riyals. riyals, and implementing the earthen barrier for the industrial zone, at a cost of 42 million riyals.

With regard to service projects that cope with the emergency need, houses were built in the Yemen neighborhood that was completely damaged by the aggression at a cost of 99 million and 110 thousand riyals, the construction of the Al-Samad Center for dialysis was completed at a cost of 475 million and 767 thousand riyals, and the restoration of a number of damaged homes in the historic city of Zabid at a cost of 30 million. And 372 thousand riyals, and completing the restoration of the health office in the governorate office at a cost of more than 80 million riyals.

The Hodeidah Public Library and Museum was rehabilitated at a cost of 164 million and 381 thousand riyals, and the water network was implemented on Al-Shahid Al-Sammat Street (Sixtieth) in the city of Hodeidah at a cost of 259 million and 431 thousand riyals, and the completion of the implementation of the Radiology and Cardiac Catheterization Center building at Al-Thawra General Hospital at a cost of 199 million and 453 thousand riyals.

Restoration work was also carried out for the military hospital in Hodeidah at a cost of 16 million and 815 thousand riyals, and the completion of a project to maintain lighting poles and equipment for the streets of Hodeidah city at a cost of 77 million and 600 thousand riyals, and maintenance and furnishing of the most damaged schools at a cost of 153 million and 656 thousand riyals, and the rehabilitation and maintenance of the rural hospital building in the district. Al-Tuhayta, at a cost of 44 million and 431 thousand riyals.

The report noted the completion of the construction of the central correctional wards in the governorate at a cost of 254 million and 900 thousand riyals, the restoration of the National Institute of Administrative Sciences at a cost of 109 million and 840 thousand riyals, and the expansion of the inpatient department at Al-Thawra Hospital at a cost of 184 million and 180 thousand riyals.

In this context, the governor of the governorate, Muhammad Ayyash Qahim, noted the efforts made by the local authority to implement a matrix of projects to address the damage that affected the service side and rehabilitate the infrastructure that was destroyed by the aggression, in addition to adopting a practical matrix to implement new projects based on the national vision to build... The modern state.

While the first deputy governor of the governorate, Ahmed Mahdi Al-Bishri, pointed to the development momentum witnessed in Hodeidah and the implementation of a number of service projects to ensure bridging the needs gap, making a positive change in the face of the repercussions of the current situation, and implementing the priorities of this stage to advance development work.

Qahim and Al-Bashri praised the governorate’s service project map achieved during the past year, 2023, despite the challenges and repercussions resulting from the aggression and siege, noting the efforts of the governorate’s Works Office and the Executive Unit for Projects and Maintenance in the field.

For his part, the Director of the Public Works and Roads Office in the governorate, Engineer Muhammad Muthanna, explained that 52 projects from the investment program have been completed, indicating that the projects being implemented within the matrix of projects approved for the first and second half of the year 2019 AD, 25 projects, including seven projects that have not started, in addition to five. New projects.

He stressed the keenness to implement projects related to treating flood damage, draining rainwater, removing waste from dust and rocks, and opening manholes, culverts, and sewage network outfalls, indicating that the completion of these projects translates the directives of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the governorate leadership to improve the service aspect for citizens.

Muthanna pointed out that the vision of the governorate’s leadership, since the beginning of the year 2022 AD, has been based on preparing studies and designs, and implementing phased plans to meet the costs of project implementation according to priorities consistent with the available resources, and as required by the public interest to alleviate the suffering of citizens and advance the service and development aspect of the projects’ infrastructure.

The Director of the Public Works Office pointed out that one of the most prominent development projects being implemented is the rehabilitation and development project for the coastal corniche in the city of Hodeidah, the second phase of which is continuing at a high pace as one of the most prominent tourism service projects that receives great and exceptional attention despite the economic challenges resulting from the repercussions of the aggression and the siege.
