SANA'A January 27. 2024(Saba)-The Republican Hospital Authority in Amanat Al-Asimah is witnessing a large demand from patients to obtain free medical and therapeutic services provided to the poor, needy in implementation of the directives of President Supreme Political Council.
His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat's directives to provide free health services at the Republican Hospital Authority are considered the first step of its kind, and reflect the keenness to alleviate citizens' suffering , especially in light of the aggression that has affected the health conditions and medical services in the country.
The initiative, which represented a glimmer of hope for poor families in providing their needs for medical services, was met widespread satisfaction and praise from citizens who expressed their gratitude to the Revolution Leader and the President of the Supreme Political Council.
The departments, centers and clinics of the Republican Hospital Authority are witnessing a large demand from patients, some of whom expressed in interviews with the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) their great satisfaction with the free medical services provided by the Republican Hospital Authority to the poor and needy.
In this context, one of the patients in the inpatient ward who was injured in a traffic accident indicated that President Al-Mashat’s directives to provide free health services to the displaced and the poor had a tangible impact in alleviating citizens' suffering .
He explained that he was taken to the hospital and received free medical services, treatments, examinations and diagnosis, taking into account the conditions of the citizens and their difficult circumstances as a result of the aggression and siege.
While Muhammad Saleh, a patient’s companion, pointed out that this qualitative step being witnessed by the capital’s largest hospitals contributes significantly to alleviating patients' suffering.
One of the patients in the inpatient ward, who underwent surgery and was receiving treatment for free, agreed with him, stressing that he had undergone examinations and received medications for free in a way that expresses the principle of solidarity and compassion encouraged by the Islamic religion.
While the companion of one of the patients coming from Taiz province indicated that this step embodies one of the forms of the state’s interest in citizens and its keenness to be close to them, a kidney patient from Al-Dhale' province expressed gratitude to the leadership that made this humanitarian decision.
He stressed that the hospital’s medical staff provided him with full care free treatments and examinations.
Concrete developments:
The head of the Republican Teaching Hospital Authority, Dr. Muhammad Jahaf, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the hospital’s bed capacity after rehabilitation and restoration reached 650 beds, and about 24 operating rooms were equipped with the latest medical equipment. He stressed the endeavor to raise the bed capacity of the care room from 70 to 100 bed during the current year.
He pointed out that the hospital witnessed a qualitative leap in terms of health , medical services and the provision of the latest surgical endoscopes of all types for the urinary tract and bile ducts, in addition to the opening of a new emergency room, the largest in the country.
Dr. Jahaf pointed out that the measures taken preserved the rights of doctors and employees who work day and night. It contributed significantly to alleviating patients' suffering.
Determination and persistence:
Dr. Jahaf confirmed that there is determination, persistence, continuous follow-up and discipline in receiving and accommodating a large number of patients, in addition to attracting medical consultants to all departments and providing more than 100 surgeons during operations.
He explained that the directive of the Supreme Political Council's President to make the Authority’s services free contributed to increasing the demand of patients from various provinces, which required doubling efforts and mobilizing medical, administrative, assistance , technical staff to meet all services , treatment requirements and facilitate them for patients.
The head of the authority stated that special clinics and diagnostic methods for men and women in almost all medical specialties have been allocated and developed.
He revealed that the hospital provided free health and medical services during the last quarter of the year 2023 AD amounting to 649,147 to all patients who visited all departments , specialized centers , received the necessary care at a cost exceeding two billion and 217 million riyals, compared to 285,722 services during the third quarter of the current year.
Quality of services:
According to the report issued by the Authority, the services provided included “surgical operations, diagnostic methods, examinations, examinations, and hospitalization indicating that the total amount provided by the General Authority of Zakat to finance free medical services during the last quarter of last year amounted to one billion and 200 million riyals, while it sponsored Republican Hospital Authority, with one billion and 17 million riyals.
He explained that the total number of free services in the field of examinations during the period from September 24 to December 23 last year amounted to 317,831 services, compared to 152,277 before the free services, while the number of diagnostic radiology services during the last quarter of last year reached 102,28 services compared to 39 thousand and 769 during the third quarter.
The report stated that the Republican Hospital Authority performed 11,518 free surgeries in various fields during the period from September 24 to December 23, compared to 4,186 operations before the free services, while the number of patients benefiting from free consultation services during the same period reached 70,157 cases. That compared to 27,865 inspection cases before the decision on free services was issued. The total number of patients in bed rooms during the last quarter reached 44,218 cases, compared to 28,145 cases, and those who benefited from other services were 103,395 services, compared to 33,480 before the services were free.
The Head of the Authority stated that, thanks to God and the combined efforts of all the hospital’s employees, who number more than 2,400, including consultants, doctors, surgeons, assistant technical medical staff, technicians and administrators, work in the Authority is proceeding smoothly and the number of surgical operations performed daily reaches more than 106 operations in various areas. Domains.
Service automation:
Dr. Jahaf stated that the financial, accounting and medical system contributed to the success of the procedures used to provide services to patients through centrality and ease of access by giving each patient a “barcode” through which he can enter the departments for examination, conduct examinations , x-rays, present them directly to the departments, and obtain medications.
He stressed the keenness to solve all problems facing patients and deal with them professionally, indicating that emergency cases that come to the hospital receive priority in all departments, , hospitalization is directed, the case is followed up, operations and surgical interventions are carried out urgently in response to the directives of the Supreme Political Council's President.
A glimmer of hope for the poor:
The Authority Chairman considered the free health services at the Republican Hospital Authority a step in the right direction and the best service provided to citizens, indicating that this step represented a glimmer of hope for the poor and needy who cannot afford the costs of treatment.
He stated that the services provided need support from donor organizations, concerned parties, financiers and wealthy people, so that the hospital can continue to provide services to all categories of people and reduce the burden on Zakat Authority, which is the only supporter of free services in the hospital.
Dr. Jahaf confirmed that the specific operations varied between laparoscopic surgeries using the latest specialized devices in “urology, orthopedics, ear, nose , throat, and general surgery, as well as stabilization operations for pelvic fractures, primary and complex artificial joints, simple , complex congenital dislocations, multiple , complex joint fractures, and deformity operations, complex congenital surgeries, implantation of a partial artificial hip joint, in addition to facial and maxillofacial surgeries, plastic surgeries, congenital deformities, burns, tumors of all kinds, brain and nerves, general surgery, accidents and injuries, liver , digestive system diseases, and eyes.”
New projects:
The Republican Hospital witnessed the opening of the Motherhood and Childhood Center at a cost of one billion and 210 million riyals, funded by the Social Fund for Development, as well as equipping the Center for Liver Transplantation and Gastrointestinal Diseases, the first phase, at a cost of 200 million riyals, with self-financing, and the opening of the new General Emergency Center at a cost of 210 million riyals, funded by the Capital Municipality in partnership with the hospital and the opening of the magnetic resonance unit at a cost of 825 million riyals, funded by WHO.
The automated financial, accounting, administrative, and medical system was also launched at a cost of 25 million riyals, the new corridor to the clinical departments and centers was opened at a cost of 12 million riyals, and the seventh floor for hospitalization was rehabilitated and restored at a cost of 20 million riyals, in addition to the implementation of quality and infection control programs in all of the authority’s centers and departments.
