[24/January/2024]

CAPITALS Jan 24. 2024 (Saba) - While the genocide of the Palestinian people, committed by the Nazi Zionist enemy entity in the Gaza Strip, continues for 109 days, the scope and volume of its opposition and condemnation is expanding in various parts of the world.

In the most prominent political step, many considered it a departure from the European ranks supporting the entity Zionist, Belgium announced that it will fully support the case brought by South Africa, which accuses the Zionist enemy of committing “genocide crimes.”

The Minister of Development Cooperation, Caroline Jenes, wrote on her account on the “X” platform: “Belgium reaffirms its full support for the case before the International Court of Justice... adding: “Our country bears its responsibility towards human rights and humanitarian law.”

Jennies pledged to remain committed to achieving the goal of ensuring the full delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza as soon as possible, at all levels.

She also stressed that her country will continue to strive, within the European Union and at the international level, for a permanent ceasefire, full access to humanitarian aid, the release of prisoners, and compliance with international law.

Belgium is considered the second European country to announce its support for South Africa's case against the Zionist entity, after Slovenia, which announced through its Foreign Minister Tanja Vajon that it intends to join the lawsuit filed by South Africa against the Zionist enemy at the International Court in Hague.

Slovenia, along with Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Malta, is part of a group of European countries that criticize the occupation entity against the backdrop of its aggression against Gaza.

As for Spanish Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, he expressed his support for tens of thousands of people who demonstrated on Saturday in support of the Palestinians in several Spanish cities.

“We are also with all of them,” Sanchez said during a Socialist Party conference, referring to the demonstrations that took place “in many streets and villages in Spain to recognize the Palestinian state and stop the war.”

Sanchez added: "The indiscriminate bombing and killing of boys and girls and thousands of people in Gaza is unacceptable."

He called for a permanent ceasefire, the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, the holding of an international peace conference, and recognition of the Palestinian state by the entire international community.

In a remarkable situation, on January 18, the European Parliament voted on a resolution to cease fire in Gaza and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip, with a majority of 321 votes, against 131 votes against, and 72 members abstaining from voting.

The resolution expressed concern about Zionist policies that lead to forced population displacement, and the resolution supports the work of the International Court of Justice.

These are not the only steps presented by the European Parliament, as prosecutors in Switzerland reported on Friday that they had received criminal complaints against the President of the Zionist entity, Isaac Herzog, during his participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Regarding the position of Latin American countries towards the genocide operations carried out against the Palestinians, Mexico and Chile announced that they joined the calls to demand an investigation by the International Criminal Court into “possible war crimes” during the ongoing Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: This recommendation is due to “growing concern about the recent escalation of violence, especially against civilian targets, and the continued commission of crimes that fall within the jurisdiction of the court, specifically since October 7, 2023.”

The Mexican Foreign Ministry indicated that the referral is based on Articles 13 or 14 of the Statute of the International Criminal Court, which allow a State party to refer to the Prosecutor a case in which one or more crimes within the jurisdiction of the Court.

Mexico stressed that the action it has taken aims to support the International Criminal Court as the ideal forum for determining individual international criminal responsibility, in the most serious cases that are of greatest importance to the international community.

Mexico stressed its commitment to international justice and the prevention of genocide and other war crimes and crimes against humanity.

In turn, Chilean Foreign Minister Alberto Van Klaveren said in a press conference in Santiago: His country supports "investigating any possible war crime" in the occupied Palestinian territory.
