SANA'A January 19. 2024 (Saba) -During the past year, 2023 AD, the Office of Industry and Trade in Sana’a governorate recorded 2,230 catering violations in 23,159 commercial stores.
Statistics issued by the Industry Office in the governorate, a copy of which received to (Saba), showed that the violations included failure to publish the price list, raising the price, selling without invoices, damaged expired goods, refusal to inspect, commercial fraud, monopoly, poor storage, failure to Adherence to precautionary measures and health requirements, lack of a commercial register, lack of weight containers, and tampering with the expiration period.
In addition to the violations of bakeries and ovens, which included the absence of a scale, the lack of bread weight, and the failure to sell on a scale.
The statistics stated that quantities of various foodstuffs, estimated at 87 tons and 545 kilograms, were destroyed during the same period.
It indicated that the circulars issued and distributed by the office amounted to five thousand and 254 circulars, and the number of control reports was two thousand and 49 reports, indicating that 15 thousand and 856 commercial establishments adhered to the commercial controls, requirements and circulars issued by the office.
Director General of the Industry Office in the governorate, Fahd Al-Ghorbani, explained that 1,146 violations had been decided, including 954 previous violations and 192 current violations, indicating that among the measures taken closing 112 commercial stores, stopping 19 stores, taking pledges from 30, and referring 48 to the prosecution.
He stated that 690 violations are still under procedures, while financial fines during the year amounted to 18 million and 692 thousand riyals.
Al-Ghorbani confirmed the continuation of periodic field campaigns by the office and its branches in the directorates to monitor markets, establishments, shops, bakeries and ovens, and to control violations.
For his part, Deputy Director General of the Office, Aziz Al-Khawlani, stressed the importance of taking into account the citizen’s circumstances, maintaining the stability of the food supply situation, providing food supplies, and controlling prices.
He urged field teams to intensify oversight and control violations specified in the directives received from the ministry.
