Hajjah November 18.2023 (Saba) - The efforts of the management of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in Hajjah continue to overcome all difficulties and complete the infrastructure to raise the level of services.
During the past year 1444 AH, in coordination with the local authority in the governorate and the branch of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs, the Foundation focused on completing alternative energy projects in implementation of the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council.
The Foundation was keen to expand the implementation of a number of sustainable projects in accordance with the national vision for building the state.
During the past year, it worked in several tracks, most notably the continuity of pumping for beneficiaries, meeting their needs, maintenance, and expanding the implementation of projects to raise the level of service.
The Corporation's plans and programs included aspects of qualification and training for technical personnel, through developing capabilities in the areas of maintenance and providing pumps and generators.
A report issued by the Foundation, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), explained that the year 1443 AH witnessed the implementation of 13 projects at a cost of 2 million and 114 thousand dollars and 448 million and 544 thousand riyals.
The report indicated the completion of the implementation of the project to supply and install solar energy systems for wells and pumping stations at a cost of 540 thousand and 300 dollars.
The report indicated the completion of a project to build a water tank with a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters in Abs at a cost of 105,400 dollars, supplying 500 home water meters at a cost of 26,500 dollars, and digging two wells in Wadi Buhal in Abs and operating them with solar energy.
According to the report, the projects included the completion of a project to supply an 800 kilowatt electric generator in Mubin cost of 220 thousand dollars, and the supply of 4 submersible motors to the governorate center with oils and spare parts for the corporation at a cost of 81 thousand dollars, in addition to drilling the Al-Hayyaf well in the Azzan Water Project in Kahlan at a cost of 24 million and 795 thousand riyals.
The report stated that 80 percent of the project to supply and install a solar energy system for the re-pumping station had been completed at a cost of 287 million and 116 thousand riyals.
The report revealed that work is underway at a high pace in implementing projects to rehabilitate the water and sanitation laboratory at a cost of $200,000 and implementing the sewerage network for the center of Al-Shahil District at a cost of $680,000.
The report added that 15 percent of the project to supply and install a solar energy system for the re-pumping station in the governorate center was completed at a cost of $254,000.
The Corporation’s report indicated an increase in the number of water subscribers by the end of the year 1444 AH to 15,853 subscribers distributed throughout the governorate center.
The report indicated that the amount of water produced during the past year amounted to 1,500,901 cubic meters, including 921,204 cubic meters in the governorate center, 352,869 in Abs, 169,763 in Mubin, in addition to 57,6500 cubic meters in Kahlan Afar.
It reported that the quantity sold amounted to 1,191,609 cubic metres.
The amount of water arriving to the treatment plant, according to the report, amounted to 793,330 cubic meters, which exceeds 86 percent of the amount of water produced in the governorate center.
In the field of institutional building and developing the capabilities of workers and technicians, the report indicated that the Foundation organized 10 training courses and workshops in the field of designing water projects using the GEMS program.
The report stated that the plan for the year 1445 included 13 projects in the governorate center and the districts of Al-Shahil, Kahlan Afar, and Kaaidna, at a total cost of one million and 557 thousand dollars, in addition 17 million and 913 thousand riyals.
It added that work is proceeding at a high pace in implementing two projects to supply, install and operate integrated pumping units powered by solar energy with a capacity of 221 thousand watts and 171 thousand.
The report stated that the plan included projects to implement the water network in addition to reservoirs in the Ghurban area in the governorate center.
Director General of the Corporation in the Governorate, Engineer Amin Al-Mughalis, appreciated the interest of the Revolutionary Leadership and the Supreme Political Council in the Water Corporation, which was translated into grants provided by the Ministry of Finance.
It praised the efforts of the Governor of the Governorate, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, and the Minister of Water, and the role of the committee assigned by the House of Representatives and the government in alleviating the institution’s suffering.
The council praised the efforts of all employees of the corporation in raising performance and improving the level of water services during the past period.
