Sana’a - Saba:
Minister of Electricity, Energy, and Water Dr. Ali Saif met on Sunday with Governor of Ibb Abdulwahid Salah to review the progress of ongoing water and electricity projects in the governorate and discuss measures to accelerate their implementation.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Electricity, Energy, and Water Adel Bader; Chairman of the General Corporation for Electrical Industries Abdulghani al-Madani; Deputy Director of the Rural Water Projects Authority, Eng. Yahya al-Shami; and UNICEF Water and Environmental Sanitation Officer for the Ibb region, Mohammed Farhan.

Discussions focused on the governorate’s electricity and water project plan for the year 1447 AH and reviewed progress on the strategic Al-Radmah Water Project. This project, supervised by the Rural Water Projects Authority and jointly funded by UNOPS and UNICEF at a cost of $2.2 million, is undergoing rehabilitation to enhance water services for thousands of residents.

The meeting also addressed water intervention initiatives supported by UNICEF across both urban and rural areas, including Water Project. This initiative, managed by the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, will be powered by lithium battery storage systems as an alternative to diesel generators.

Participants also reviewed flood protection measures, including efforts to mitigate rain and flood damage to cities within the governorate.

Dr. Saif reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with local authorities to ensure the successful delivery of electricity and water services, emphasizing that Ibb remains a priority within the Ministry’s 1447 AH plan. He called for collective efforts to preserve and sustain water projects to serve the long-term needs of local communities.

Governor Salah expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s support and its dedication to meeting Ibb’s electricity and water requirements. He reiterated the local authority’s readiness to allocate the necessary land for Ramdah Water Project and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration with UNICEF and UNOPS in delivering critical water services.

Deputy Minister Bader noted that Ibb is a focal point in the Ministry’s operational roadmap and praised the local authority’s effective cooperation in advancing stalled and ongoing projects. He underscored that the current progress reflects the directives of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the Ministry’s strategic objectives.

UNICEF representative Mohammed Farhan reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting water infrastructure in Ibb, particularly the implementation of pumping stations and network lines for al-Radmah project, in accordance with the project’s approved plans.

Majed al-Shami, Director of the Rural Water Projects Authority branch in Ibb, provided an overview of al-Radmah Water Project’s components, which are expected to benefit over 34,000 residents in the district and surrounding areas.
