GAZA November 12. 2023 (Saba) - The Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine has commented on the decisions of the joint Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to discuss the situation in Gaza, expressing its extreme astonishment at what was stated in the final statement of the summit.
The Islamic Jihad movement said in a statement that the wording of "condemnation, demand and call" that filled the final statement suggests that the statement was issued by a party that has nothing to do with the massacres committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, and not by the meeting of 57 countries, which appeared through its statement as if it had nothing and could only appeal and demand.
The statement added that "the final statement reflects the collective repudiation of Arab and Islamic countries from their duties, distancing themselves from their duty to protect Arab and Islamic national security, and leaving Palestine and its people to the Zionist entity and its Western sponsors."
It expressed its deep astonishment at what was stated in the final statement regarding “confirming adherence to the Arab Peace Initiative of 2002, and recalling that the precondition for peace with Tel Aviv, and the establishment of normal relations with it, is ending its occupation of all Palestinian and Arab lands, especially in light of the rush of some Arab regimes to normalize relations with the entity.
The statement continued “Perhaps the statement would have gained some credibility if the Arab and Islamic countries that favored the entity had taken the initiative to sever their relations with it, like some Latin American countries that have no connection to Palestine and its people, neither Arabism nor Islam.”
It concluded that “The decisions contained in the final statement send to the Arab and Islamic nation a message that these regimes have become incapable of protecting their people and defending the nation’s sanctities, and that their people are left up for grabs for the Zionist entity and the American administration.”
