TAIZ September 26. 2023 (Saba) - The Acting Governor of Taiz, Ahmed Amin Al-Massawi, on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for agricultural projects funded by the local authority, represented by the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in Taiz province.
The laying of the foundation stone for agricultural projects at a cost of 876 million and 527 thousand riyals comes on the occasion of the celebration of the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday peace be upon him.
The projects for which the foundation stone has been laid include providing equipment to the agricultural sector to contribute to the implementation of agricultural and fisheries projects and initiatives for three Buklin and two Sheol, establishing and activating eight cooperative societies for eight districts, qualifying 800 development knights in agricultural fields, and supporting the implementation of 400 community initiatives in various agricultural fields.
The projects also include preparing a water map for the agricultural sector for the governorate’s directorates, providing tillers, harvesters, and screens to active associations to advance the agricultural sector, agricultural expansion of basic crops “wheat, maize, and legumes,” supporting 25 students in the model districts to qualify for the bachelor’s program in the agricultural field, and preparing a fish marketing map in the governorate’s districts.
The Acting Governor of Taiz confirmed in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the package of strategic projects for which the foundation stone was laid represents preparation for the infrastructure of the agricultural sector and a starting point for the agricultural renaissance in the governorate.
He considered these projects a translation of the directives of the leader of the revolution, Sayyed. Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and his interest in the agricultural sector.
In turn, the Director General of the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the governorate, Engineer Mohamed Heba, pointed out the strategic dimension of agricultural projects and the importance they gain in improving the performance of the agricultural sector in the governorate.
He stated that these projects represent an integrated and interconnected work matrix that establishes a broad agricultural and fishery operation, in addition to that they contribute to activating the social aspect of implementing community initiatives in the agricultural and livestock sectors in the areas and districts of the governorate.
Heba pointed out that the importance of the projects lies in qualifying and training the human cadre, “Knights of Development,” and establishing cooperative associations in the directorates and providing them with the necessary capabilities to ensure their success, organizing, directing, and mobilizing energies through work projects and precise studies that represent a comprehensive database at the level of regions and areas of the district, “the water map.”
