MOSCOW Aug. 27. 2023 (Saba) - A Russian official indicated on Sunday that the expansion of the "BRICS" group will strengthen its position within the Group of Twenty.

According to Russian Today website, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in statements to the "Moscow. The Kremlin. Putin" program: "Russia will coordinate its positions with the new BRICS members at the level of international platforms."

"Certainly, we will coordinate our positions with the new members (of BRICS) at the level of the United Nations, the G20 and other international platforms," Lavrov added.

The latest "BRICS" summit was held in Johannesburg between August 22 and 24, chaired by South Africa, and attended by the leaders of China, India, Brazil and South Africa. Russia was represented by Lavrov, while Russian President Vladimir Putin participated in the summit via video.
