MOSCOW June 08. 2023 (Saba) - 15,000 families left homes in Nova Kakhovka and Goloprystanskyi areas in the flooding caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric station.
The RIA Novosti agency quoted Acting Minister of Labor and Social Welfare in the Kherson region Alla Barkhatnova as saying the number of homes flooded due to the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric station reached 15,000.
"Many people ended up spending the night on the rooftops, and the Emergencies Ministry had to evacuate citizens at all hours of the night, because 15,000 homes were flooded," Barkhatnova told Tavria TV.
On the night of June 6, Kiev forces launched a series of attacks on the Kakhovka hydroelectric station, as a result of which the upper part of the station was destroyed, but the reservoir dam itself was not damaged.
Earlier, acting governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo, announced destroying dam of Kakhovka hydroelectric station caused the flooding of 35 residential communities in three districts of the region.
