With defeat of Zionist enemy... Palestinians commemorate 75th anniversary of Nakba

With defeat of Zionist enemy... Palestinians commemorate 75th anniversary of Nakba
[17/May/2023]

SANA'A May 17. 2023 (Saba) -In conjunction with breaking the power of the Zionist enemy and the victory of the Palestinian resistance against him in the battle of "Revenge of the Free" and teaching him lessons that he will not forget after he launched a barbaric and unjust aggression against the Gaza Strip that lasted for five days. Today, Monday, the Palestinians commemorated the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba with a number of different activities.

On this day every year, the Palestinians recall the forced displacement of their ancestors by the Zionist enemy gangs from their land in 1948, and the accompanying crimes of murder and displacement, amid their insistence on their adherence to the right to return to their homes from which they were expelled.

This painful memory comes this year, in conjunction with the barbaric and brutal Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip, which lasted for five days, during which about 35 Palestinians were killed, including six leaders of the Al-Quds Brigades, and more than 190 others were injured, in addition to the demolition of dozens of homes.

On the occasion of the painful anniversary today, the Palestinians will organize a festival in the city of Ramallah in the West Bank, which includes a popular march and the sounding of a siren for 75 seconds, which is the number of years that have passed since the Nakba, and the participants in the march usually bear the names of the cities and villages in which their ancestors lived.

The Zionist enemy continues the operations of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement of the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, denying their national and human rights, their right to establish their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, as well as the right of return of the Palestinian refugees to their homes.

The occupied Palestinian territories are witnessing critical events and developments in confronting this arrogant enemy and confronting its settlement and Judaization plans, specifically in the city of Jerusalem and the occupied interior, and its attempt to obliterate the Palestinian Arab identity and distort the Palestinian struggle.

Despite the passage of 75 years since the Palestinian Nakba, its chapters and tragedies are still continuing, in light of the continuous plans of the enemy that it implements, such as spilling Palestinian blood, stealing lands, demolishing homes, attacking Islamic and Christian sanctities, and other continuous attacks and violations.

The Palestinian Nakba did not end in 1948, but it was followed by other calamities, passing through the setback of 1967, which displaced about 200 thousand Palestinians, most of them towards Jordan, leading to what the Zionist enemy entity intends to annex the Palestinian Jordan Valley with American support to bring about a new Nakba, the chapters of which began with the announcement of the so-called Deal of the Century, which works To liquidate the refugee issue and deny them their right to return and self-determination, whose legitimacy derives from their historical right to their homeland.

And the 15th of May of the year constitutes a milestone in the history of the Palestinian people, with all the painful images stored in the memory that embodied the ugliness and scale of the crime committed by the gangs of the occupying Zionist entity.

The extent of the Zionist enemy’s arrogance this year clearly appears in its attempt to abolish the rights of the Palestinians, and its endeavor to establish the Jewish character instead of the Arab one, specifically in the occupied city of Jerusalem, and what it seeks to do in terms of the abolition of the Palestinians’ historical and geographical right to their land, and the abolition of their identity, heritage and ancient civilization.

In the details of the Palestinian Nakba. This Nakba constituted the largest ethnic cleansing operation in the twentieth century, as more than 957 thousand Palestinians were forcibly displaced from their villages and cities by force of arms and threats to the West Bank, Gaza Strip and neighboring Arab countries, out of a million and 400 thousand Palestinians who were residing in historic Palestine in 1948, the Jews were replaced.

The Zionist enemy controlled more than 85 percent of the area of historical Palestine, which is about 27 thousand square kilometers, including the resources and the population on it, i.e. more than three quarters of the area of historical Palestine.

During the Nakba, the gangs of the Zionist enemy took control of 774 Palestinian villages and cities, and 531 of them were completely destroyed and their cultural and historical features were obliterated, and the rest were subjected to the enemy entity and its laws.

The Zionist gangs committed more than 70 massacres against the Palestinians, each of which represents a war crime and a crime against humanity, and is classified as a crime of genocide.

According to historical sources, the number of Palestinian martyrs in the Nakba battles reached about 15,000 martyrs, while the number of Arab martyrs ranged from 3,500 to 700,000.

About 10,000 Egyptian soldiers, 4,500 Jordanian soldiers, 2,500 Iraqi soldiers, 1,876 Syrian soldiers, 450 Lebanese soldiers, 3,200 Saudi soldiers, and 3,000 volunteers from Yemen and Arab countries, including 500 Palestinians, participated in the Nakba battles.

According to the International Red Cross, the number of Arab prisoners in the aftermath of the Nakba reached 5,204, including 4,702 Palestinians, and the rest were Jordanian, Egyptian, Saudi, Iraqi, Lebanese, and Yemeni. They were distributed among the Galilee camps, 2,229 prisoners, including 1,894 Palestinians, the Atlit camp, 1,256 prisoners, including 1,136 Palestinians, and the Sarafand camp, 873 prisoners. 794 of them were Palestinians, and they were released in a prisoner exchange in mid-May 1949.

Only about 150,000 Palestinians remained in the Palestinian cities and villages on which the Zionist enemy entity was established after the Palestinian Nakba. At the end of 2019, their number reached about 1,597,000.

According to the records of the International Relief Agency for Palestinian Refugees, the number of refugee camps reached 58 official camps affiliated with the agency, distributed as ten camps in Jordan, nine camps in Syria, 12 camps in Lebanon, 19 camps in the West Bank, and eight camps in the Gaza Strip.

According to the statistics of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the number of Palestinians at the end of 2019 reached about 13 million, of whom about five million Palestinians live in the West Bank and Gaza Strip (43 percent of them are refugees according to the general census of population, housing and establishments 2017), and about one million and 597 thousand Palestinians live In the territories occupied in 1948, while the number of Palestinians in Arab countries reached about six million, and in foreign countries about 727 thousand.

It is noteworthy that the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics counted 6.4 million refugees until the end of 2020, indicating that the number of Palestinians has increased more than ten times since the Nakba, while more than 100,000 martyrs have been recorded since the Nakba, and about one million arrests since 1967.

This year, the Palestinian resistance was able in the battle of "Revenge of the Free" to achieve qualitative achievements in confronting the Zionist enemy's army, which was manifested in field unity and fighting that forced the enemy to calm down early.

On this occasion, the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine confirmed that the victory of the resistance in the battle of "Revenge of the Free" coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba.
