Ministry of Fisheries condemns aggression coalition countries' actions on Abdul-Kuri Island

SANA’A April 01.2023 (Saba) - The Ministry of Fisheries has condemned the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression coalition countries' actions on Abd al-Kuri Island in the Socotra archipelago and the conversion of the island into a military base.

In a statement issued Friday, of which Saba obtained a copy, the Ministry of Fisheries stated that the aggression countries not only occupied some of Yemen's islands, beaches, and important parts of its lands, plundered its wealth, and destroyed its environment in all forms, but also displaced the people of Abd al-Kuri Island, one of the most important islands in the Socotra archipelago.

The ministry indicated that the aggression countries went too far during the past week to send new Emirati forces to Hadibu Airport in preparation for their transfer to Abd al-Kuri Island.

New satellite images showed that there are developments in the new main airstrip and the paving of an area next to it in preparation for the construction of what is likely to be military warehouses or logistical buildings and the establishment of workers areas and modern buildings east of the base on the occupied Abd al-Kuri Island, according to the statement.

In its statement, the Ministry of Fisheries condemned the occupying countries' moves jointly with the Zionist enemy in the archipelago and strategic Yemeni islands, demanding that these forces leave Abd al-Kuri Island and all Yemeni lands, islands, and coasts.

The ministry held the UN Security Council, the United Nations, and its humanitarian and human rights organizations responsible for the infringement of Yemeni sovereignty on a number of islands, the latest of which is what is happening on Abd al-Kuri Island.

The statement called on the free people of the world to take serious action against the atrocities perpetrated against the Yemeni people, including the coalition countries' encroachment on and occupation of Yemeni islands.
