SANA'A March 01. 2023 (Saba)- His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Head of the Supreme Political Council, inaugurated today the afforestation season for the year 1444 AH, at the level of the capital's secretariat and the provinces.
President Al-Mashat, along with Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, the two deputy heads of the Council of Ministers for Defense and Security Affairs, Lieutenant General Jalal Al-Ruwaishan, Representatives Abdul Rahman Al-Jami, and the Grand Mufti of Yemen, the scholar Shams Al-Din Sharaf Al-Din, planted a number of various trees in the courtyard of the People's Mosque in the capital, Sana'a.
President Al-Mashat listened to an explanation from the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Eng. Abdul-Malik Al-Thawr, and his deputy, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, about the afforestation season for the current year, which comes under the slogan "With our initiative and our solidarity towards self-sufficiency."
He affirmed the interest of the Supreme Political Council in the agricultural sector, and its support for everything that would expand the cultivation of fruit trees to achieve self-sufficiency in crops and agricultural products of value and benefit.
President Al-Mashat stressed the need to work to restore agricultural activity in the various provinces of the Republic within the framework of the state for gradual self-sufficiency in agricultural products, especially cash crops on which much is relied upon to supply the national economy and the public treasury.
He directed the Ministry of Education, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, to create a student activity to plant trees and make grades for the activity to encourage students to plant. He called on citizens to benefit from the afforestation and planting season in various provinces.
The President urged to raise the level of societal awareness of caring for trees, which contributes to the expansion of vegetation in all cities, villages and regions.
He was accompanied at the inauguration by the Ministers of Local Administration Ali Al-Qaisi and the Parliament State, Shura Council Affairs, Dr. Ali Abu Haliqa, Dr. Hamid Al-Majjaji, the Secretary-General of the Municipality of the Capital, Amin Muhammad Jamaan, the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, Taha Al-Sufyani, and the Senior Undersecretary of the Municipality, Khaled Al-Madani.
