SPC congratulates freed captives

SANAA, Oct. 17 (Saba) - The Supreme political Council (SPC) on Friday congratulated the freed prisoners of the army and popular committees, their families and all the Yemeni people on the success of the prisoner swap.

In a statement issued on Friday, the SPC expressed its hope that the exchange operation is to be a first step and followed by other operations to release all prisoners based on all-for-all prisoner exchange from the two parties as stipulated in the Sweden agreement.

The council stressed that the prisoners' file is "humanitarian", which should not be compromised or politicized.

"We, the Supreme political Council, promise all prisoners and their families to make every effort until the return of the last prisoner to his family and homeland."

The SPC appreciated efforts of the UN envoy and the Red Cross, calling on them to form an independent committee to investigate the executions and torture practiced by the aggression countries on the army and popular committees' prisoners.

The Council called on the UN to spare no effort to lift the unjust blockade imposed on Sana'a airport and all land and sea ports, in addition to force the other party to implement the rest items of the Sweden agreement, particularly that are related to the country's oil and gas revenues and to pay the salaries of all the state's employees.
