Foreign Ministry stresses need for ships to enter Hodeidah port without any conditions

Foreign Ministry stresses need for ships to enter Hodeidah port without any conditions
[31/August/2020]

SANAA, Aug. 31 (Saba) - Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday confirmed that the countries of aggression coalition and their mercenaries are continuing to detain ships and prevent their entry to the port of Hodeidah amid at exacerbating the great suffering of the Yemeni people.

In a statement Saba got a copy of it, the ministry indicated that this criminal act is not surprising for the coalition that is still practicing brutal aggression and unjust siege on the Yemeni people since March 26, 2015.

The statement stated that the detention of ships is inconsistent with the ethics of war, and represents a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, and the Stockholm Agreement, which explicitly stipulates the unimpeded entry of ships and goods into the port of Hodeidah, and also contradicts the Security Council resolutions in support of the Agreement, which stipulated not to impede the entry of fuel ships.

The statement noted that the lies of the Government of Mercenaries are no longer deceive anyone because they are not only empty fabrications but also involve a sickening industry of non-existent interests, which is a mockery of the suffering of people and their minds. The people who reveal the level of moral fall and lack of conscience of the hotel government that sold the country and the people at the lowest prices.

The statement clarified that the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Yemen had called for a joint meeting to discuss the mechanism of controlling revenues and covering the deficit, in a way that would ensure the disbursement of salaries at the level of the Republic, it was attended by representatives of the National Salvation Government, while the representatives of the other party did not attend.

The statement considered that a clear intransigence and represented mercenaries ’insistence to withdraw from the Stockholm Agreement, and this was not clarified by the statement of the UN envoy issued on Sunday and did not clearly mention the party that was the reason for the obstruction and failure of the meeting.

The statement stressed that the aggression coalition and the government of mercenaries must take their hands off the ships and respect the agreement and the international resolutions supporting it, stressing that the United Nations should have a clear position on the crime of detaining ships and an explicit call to respect Sweden's agreement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "the cold stances of the United Nations have encouraged the other party to continue to underestimate this agreement which reaches the level of demanding new proposals that legitimize and accommodate the retreats, violations and irresponsible positions of the mercenary government."

"This weak position of the United Nations and its inability to show the legal and humanitarian position towards the other party's violations of Sweden's agreement and the permanent amendment to alternative proposals instead of strictly demanding the implementation of the agreement adopted by international decisions is not consistent with the balance and impartiality it should be and does not serve trust that required in terms of future agreements that may sponsor it," it added.

In its statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on humanitarian organizations and all free people to condemn the seizure of ships and raise their voices about the determination shown by the aggression coalition to continue to detain them and multiply the suffering of the Yemeni people, especially since there is nothing in international decisions or Sweden's agreement that gives the other party the right to detain ships, and there is no justification it can only be based on the weakness of the UN position and the bullying of the US position in support of all crimes against the Yemeni people.

The statement affirmed that ships must enter Hodeidah port without obstacles or conditions and that the international community should call for this since the continued detention of ships represents a war crime and falls within the concept of collective punishment that affects all Yemeni people without exception.
