SANA'A, April 12 (Saba) - The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) granted an additional aid of $37 million for financing development projects in Yemen.

The additional aid agreement was signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed al-Sa'adi and USAID Mission Director to Yemen Robert Wilson.

The agency provides the aid as a contribution to finance a number of development projects in the areas of health, education, agriculture, democracy and good governance.

After the signing ceremony, al-Sa'adi praised the keenness shown by the U.S. government represented by the USAID to support the development and stability in Yemen, pointing to the importance of the U.S. to play a pivotal role in supporting the national reconciliation government's efforts aiming to fulfill the requirements of the current transitional phase.

For his part, USAID Mission Director said the additional aid agreement is part of the US obligations to support stability and development in Yemen as well as the Yemeni government's efforts.

Wilson revealed that the U.S. Department of Agriculture is intended to provide an imminent aid to Yemen aiming to improve water harvesting in Taiz city and underground water storage in Sana'a.
