Gov't adopts procedures to execute HRC's recommendations

SANA'A, Nov. 15 (Saba) - The government agreed Tuesday to form a joint committee to conduct independent and transparent investigations compatible with the international standards into the human rights' violation allegations.

The procedure is one of a package presented by a ministerial committee chaired by the Foreign Minister and approved by the cabinet in its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ali Mujawar today.

The package of procedures aims to carry out the recommendations mentioned in the report of High Commissioner for Human Rights' mission and the Human Rights Council (HRC)'s decision to Yemen on the ongoing political crisis issued on 29 September 2011.

The cabinet assigned Minister of Legal Affaires to draft a republican decree on the committee's formation, urging the opposition to name its members in the committee besides the government's members.

The package took account of all aspects cited in the recommendations and decision, topped by compensating the victims and the affected families via executing the related verdicts in addition to stopping and prohibiting recruiting children in the army.

Concerning basic services (including electricity, fuel and water), a permanent and joint emergency committee from all relevant bodies has been formed to ensure providing unremitting basic services to the citizens and to take all precautionary measures required to encounter, jointly with security bodies, any emergent situations in the country.
