SANAA, Jan. 17 (Saba) – At least 293 citizens died and 2,551 others were wounded, including 1,234 citizens with serious wounds, in 2246 traffic accidents during the last year.
A report issued by the Traffic Department of the capital Sanaa showed that the traffic accidents included 1,116 accidents of running over pedestrians, 576 accidents of cars collision with motorcycles, and 450 collision and overturning accidents.
General Director of the Traffic Department in the capital, Brigadier Ali al-Washli, told Saba that the main reasons for traffic accidents are negligence of drivers, excessive speed and lack of maintenance of vehicles, as well as non-compliance with traffic rules and regulations.
