SANAA, Sept. 21 (Saba) – In observance of International Peace Day (21 September), the non-government humanitarian organizations in Yemen, in association with partnerships, activists, journalists and all adherents to the peace, staged an event here in the capital Sanaa on Wednesday to call for supporting achieve peace and put pressure to immediately end Saudi aggression.

The groups organized a marathon race in Sanaa with participants of 2000 activists.

The race kicked off in Sabeen area in south of the capital to al-Dhurafi Football Stadium in downtown the city.

The NGOs delivered a statement, which obtained by Saba, calling for the international community, the United Nations and all humanitarian groups throughout the world to stand by Yemen and pressure for ending Saudi aggression against Yemeni civilians.

They also called for immediate lift of Saudi aggression air and sea siege on Yemen to let in food and medicine reach thousands of entrapped Yemenis.

This world anniversary comes as Yemen has been suffering from unjust and brutal aggression war for the second straight year against the Yemeni people.

Saudi air aggression and its mercenaries have killed over 10,000 civilian Yemenis since the aggression began against Yemen in March 2015. Over three million Yemenis were displaced during the unfair aggression

"With this prolonged suffering from aggression war, the Yemeni people are looking forward to the international community, United Nations and its humanitarian agencies to stand by the humanity, oppressed peoples to press for immediate end to the deadly war," read the statement.

It said that "Yemen and its people have been the advocates of peace since the beginning of history, and that have never ever been the aggressor against any human beings."

"Here we stress the importance to call on all humanitarian organizations to bear their responsibilities to use all legal various means to press for immediate end to all aspects of the war and siege that exhausted the Yemeni people and help for re-building our homeland for all citizens in all their different political, cultural and social affiliations," the statement said.

The NGOs also call for all parties "to reach a comprehensive peace for the sake of Yemen's children's future and to engage in re-building the country."

"Our homeland is worth the peace," their statement concluded.
