Hajjah - Saba:
Hajjah Governorate Deputy Ahmed Al-Akhfash inaugurated on Monday a road construction project linking Wadi Al-Sahool to Markadah in Bani Al-Asri, Jabal Ayan, in the Hajjah countryside.
The project was implemented through a community initiative as part of celebrations marking the Prophet’s birthday.
The project, supported by the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit of the Ministry of Administration, Local and Rural Development, the local authorities, and the community, involved constructing a road connecting Bani Al-Asri in Jabal Ayan to the Al-Ma'mari area, as well as an asphalt road leading to the province center. The total cost amounted to 19 million and 922 thousand Yemeni riyals.
Stretching 1.8 kilometers with an average width of four meters, the project includes 120 cubic meters of retaining walls, surface culverts, and pipe culverts. It is expected to benefit 22,000 residents.
During the inauguration, Deputy Al-Akhfash emphasized the local authority’s commitment to implementing road projects, which are a priority in the governorate’s plans. He praised the role of the Ministry of Administration, Local and Rural Development, and the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit in supporting such initiatives.
He also commended the community’s response to the call of the revolution leader, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badruddin Al-Houthi, to contribute to development efforts through diverse community initiatives. He stressed the need for further efforts in this regard to enhance resilience and stability.
Abdulwahab Sinan, Director of the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit, highlighted the importance of supporting community-driven projects in line with the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the government of change and development.
He noted that the unit, in collaboration with local authorities and the community, is implementing 11 projects in the district, including 10 road projects and one health project, with studies underway to support six additional projects in the coming period.
For his part, District Director Sadiq Wahban appreciated the community’s engagement in project implementation, describing it as the cornerstone of development. He also acknowledged the support of the local authorities and the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit.
Nasser Al-Lawzi, head of the community committee, expressed pride in the residents’ response to the wise leadership’s directives and their participation in development efforts.
Meanwhile, Deputy Al-Akhfash and his accompanying delegation assessed the possibility of reopening "Al-Aman – Hajjah Countryside – Governorate Center" road, which had been cut off due to landslides in Al-Dhabr area, and explored solutions to prevent future collapses.
The deputy and the director of the Central Interventions Unit also received a briefing from the district director on the importance of the road, which connects Al-Aman area in Najrah District to Jabal Ayan, Al-Dhabr, Bani Al-Asri, Al-Rabiyah in the Hajjah countryside, and Hamlan in the governorate center.
