Gaza - Saba:
Al Jazeera Media Network has condemned the deliberate assassination of its reporters in Gaza, Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqa, along with cameramen Ibrahim Zaher and Mohammed Noufal, in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza.
In a statement issued on Monday, Al Jazeera described the attack as a blatant and intentional assault on press freedom.
The network stated that the strike on its journalists came amid a catastrophic humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing Israeli aggression, which has resulted in mass killings.
It added that the killing of Anas Al-Sharif — one of Gaza’s bravest journalists — and his colleagues was a desperate attempt to silence voices ahead of a potential occupation of Gaza. Al Jazeera pointed out that several Israeli military officials had repeatedly incited violence and called for targeting Anas Al-Sharif and his team.
While mourning the loss of some of its finest journalists, the network held the Israeli army and government fully responsible for the targeting and assassination of its crew.
Al Jazeera emphasized that Anas Al-Sharif and his colleagues were among the last remaining voices in Gaza, continuing to convey the tragic reality to the world. Throughout the siege, its journalists lived through the same hunger and suffering they documented.
The network stressed that its reporters had delivered continuous, courageous coverage, bearing witness to the horrific atrocities committed during the war.
