Sana’a - Saba:
The General Authority for the Development of Small and Micro Enterprises in the Capital Municipality concluded two training courses on Wednesday as part of its economic empowerment projects.
The courses focused on Training of Trainers (TOT) and industrial methods for producing cotton-based products.
A total of 21 female participants acquired essential knowledge and practical skills in effective training design and implementation, as well as industrial production techniques. The courses aimed to enhance their capabilities in both training and production, enabling them to transfer this knowledge to other women in their communities and improve livelihoods under the Authority’s economic empowerment initiatives within cotton value chains.
Ahmed Al-Kabsi, Chairman of the General Authority, described the training of trainers in cotton product value chains as a strategic step toward economically empowering women and building a local economy based on the optimal use of available resources.
He noted that the Authority’s training programs are designed to prepare national trainers who can extend technical and production knowledge to broader segments of society. This contributes to the creation of small, income-generating projects with growth and sustainability potential.
Al-Kabsi also emphasized the importance of cotton industry value chains, highlighting their potential as a significant local resource that can be transformed into promising economic opportunities—from manufacturing to marketing.
He explained that preparing female trainers in this field opens the door for many women to establish their own businesses, playing an active role in community-based economic development. He affirmed that these efforts are an integral part of the Authority’s vision for achieving comprehensive and sustainable development across the Capital Municipality and other provinces.
For his part, Eng. Abdulmalik Al-Ansi, Executive Director of the Project and Initiative Financing Unit for Agricultural and Fisheries Development in the Capital, expressed the Unit’s readiness to support the Authority’s activities and projects, including those related to value chains.
He praised the Authority’s dedication to implementing high-quality training programs aimed at capacity building and women’s economic empowerment, which contribute to local development and job creation in an environment that supports production and innovation.
