Al-Hodeidah – Saba:
A project to reclaim agricultural lands was launched today in the “Hawaz” area of Bura District, Al-Hodeidah Governorate. The initiative is funded by the Emergency Unit as part of efforts to boost local production and enhance food security.
The project aims to expand cultivable land and improve the use of available resources in the area, in line with the revolutionary leadership’s directives to support farmers and revitalize the agricultural sector—seen as a cornerstone of sustainable rural development in Yemen.
Chairman of the Bura Agricultural Cooperative Association, Abdulrahman Al-Hakim, stated that the project is being directly supervised by the association in response to political and revolutionary directives to convert hard, unused land into productive agricultural areas that serve local communities.
Al-Hakim emphasized that the association is working with relevant authorities to facilitate implementation and overcome field challenges. The first phase will run for one month, with potential for expansion depending on the outcomes.
He described the project as a key step toward strengthening local food security and achieving self-sufficiency by utilizing idle farmland. The initiative is expected to help increase rural household income and stimulate agricultural economic activity in the district.
