Sana'a - Saba:

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer discussed on Saturday with Acting Head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) and Acting Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC) Mari Yamashita ways to enhance cooperation and overcome obstacles to the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement.

During the meeting, Minister Amer reiterated the Republic of Yemen's absolute support for the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA).

Amer stressed that this support stems from the unwavering commitment of the Yemeni leadership and government to enable the mission to perform its duties to the fullest extent possible and to actively seek to resolve any obstacles or challenges that may face its work.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also reiterated that Sana'a, in the context of its continued support for the UNMHA mission, affirms that a just and comprehensive peace is its irreversible strategic choice, one that guarantees the rights of the Yemeni people and fulfills their aspirations for security, stability, and prosperity.

He affirmed the full military readiness to deal decisively with any risks or threats that may target Yemen's security and sovereignty, within the framework of legitimate self-defense and the protection of national gains.

Minister Amer highlighted the extreme seriousness of the mine problem, which poses an existential threat to the lives of thousands of civilians in Hodeida governorate, especially children and women.

He urged the mission to further and more effectively activate its role in the mine clearance file and provide the necessary technical and logistical support to the national authorities involved in this vital issue, ensuring the safety of civilians and clearing the lands of this deadly scourge.

The Foreign Minister called on the UNMHA mission to assume its responsibility and announce explicitly and transparently the party obstructing the convening of the Joint Redeployment Committee meetings.

He emphasized that the other party's continued evasion of holding any joint meetings hinders the implementation of the Hodeida Agreement and undermines UN efforts. He added that this announcement will put an end to procrastination and expose the real obstructors of the peace process.

For her part, Yamashita expressed her deep appreciation for the continued support and unlimited cooperation the mission receives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Redeployment Committee, which directly contributes to facilitating the mission's work and achieving its humanitarian goals.
