Massive rally in Sana’a declares solidarity with Gaza, condemns Genocide & Starvation

Sana’a — Saba:

Millions gathered in the Yemeni capital Sana’a on Friday in a mass rally under the slogan “We Will Not Be Silent in the Face of Gaza’s Genocide and the Desecration of the Nation and Its Sanctities,” affirming their unwavering support for the oppressed Palestinian people, particularly the starving population of Gaza, and their rejection of the Israeli-led genocide and blockade.

Participants in the rally at Al-Sabeen Square declared full readiness for “the promised conquest and holy jihad,” expressing their willingness to join the fight alongside resistance forces in Gaza in direct confrontation with the enemy. The rally was held in response to the call of the leader of the Yemeni revolution, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.

The demonstrators demanded the opening of routes for Yemenis to join the struggle in Gaza and Palestine, calling it a decisive battle for the entire Muslim Ummah against the Israeli occupation. They denounced the continued silence and inaction of Arab and Islamic regimes amid the starvation and mass killings in Gaza and the ongoing desecration of Islamic holy sites.

The rally welcomed al-Houthi’s announcement to consider escalation options against Israel and fully authorized him to take necessary measures to stop the aggression and lift the blockade on Gaza. Protesters praised the Palestinian resistance’s legendary resilience and heroic battles against a regime committing atrocities by bombing, blockading, and starving civilians.

The crowd urged the Muslim world to break its silence, denounce genocide, and defend the people of Gaza, who are dying daily from hunger and thirst. They reaffirmed their commitment to boycotting American and Israeli goods, labeling economic resistance an effective weapon against the occupiers.

Chants echoed throughout the square, including:

  • “Our stance is for the sake of God… a jihad in God’s path”
  • “With Gaza, the Yemen of Ansar is ready for battle”
  • “America and Zionism are enemies of humanity”
  • “Gaza’s people are in pain… abandoned to hunger by the Ummah”
  • “O Ummah, Gaza concerns you… your silence will disgrace you”
  • “Gaza is today, you may be next”
  • “Our nation is captive to the West… lacking awareness and vision”
  • “Gaza cries: Who among you will feed my children?”
  • “Gaza suffers more from betrayal than from the enemy’s assault”
  • “O Arabs, where is your honor and anger?”
  • “In Gaza, men of God stand firm… a miracle of steadfastness”
  • “O Gaza, soldiers of God are with you until we meet Him”
  • “Jihad, jihad… rise, rise to jihad”
  • “We are with you, Gaza, you are not alone”
  • “We authorize you, our leader, we give you full mandate”

During the rally, Yemen’s Grand Mufti Shams al-Din Sharaf al-Din praised scholars across the Islamic world who have fulfilled their duty by issuing fatwas obligating support for the Palestinian people and the necessity of jihad in the face of aggression. He criticized the scholars of neighboring countries for remaining silent while Palestinians in Gaza suffer starvation and genocide just a stone’s throw away.

“Where is your compassion and honor for your starving brothers?” he asked, adding that proximity to Gaza imposes a greater responsibility on scholars and leaders of neighboring states. He emphasized that all Muslim nations, even those geographically distant, bear responsibility before God.

A statement issued at the rally emphasized that the protest was a response to God’s call, a jihad in His path, and a stand against the oppressive tyrants—America and Israel—who are committing genocide against Gaza with global complicity and shameful silence.

The statement denounced the international community’s failure to intervene while Palestinians face systematic killing and starvation. It highlighted the pain of being separated from Gaza by geography and hostile regimes that neither support Gaza nor allow volunteers to reach its defense.

The rally blamed American and Israeli leaders for using starvation as a tool of genocide, declaring it the most horrific crime ever committed under the false banner of human rights. It also condemned the silence of Arab rulers, calling it a form of complicity that emboldens Israel’s atrocities.

The statement praised Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi’s initiative to consider more aggressive measures and expressed full confidence in his leadership. It reaffirmed the Yemeni people’s readiness to bear the consequences of any decision aimed at confronting the enemy and alleviating the suffering in Gaza.

The crowd also reiterated its steadfast commitment to Gaza and Palestine as a core part of Yemen’s religious and moral duty, grounded in faith in God, the Quran, and the Prophet’s teachings. They expressed trust in God’s promises: victory for the oppressed and downfall for the tyrants.

The event featured a special anthem from Hamas’ Qassam Brigades titled “Brothers in Truth,” along with poetry and performances that reflected Yemen’s unwavering solidarity with Gaza and rejection of the crimes of starvation and genocide inflicted on the Palestinian people.
