Gaza – SABA:
Olga Shevchenko, spokesperson for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Gaza, warned on Wednesday of the dire humanitarian situation in the Strip, confirming it has reached unprecedented levels of deterioration.
Shevchenko told Sputnik agency:
- "Hospitals in Gaza report an increasing number of patients admitted due to extreme exhaustion from food shortages, while others collapse in the streets."
- "Local health authorities reported yesterday that over 12 children and adults died of hunger within 24 hours," with malnutrition rates remaining alarmingly high.
She added:
- "Evacuation orders, the latest in Deir al-Balah, severely restrict UN and partner operations, pushing people into an ever-shrinking area of Gaza."
- "Today, over 87% of Gaza is either under evacuation orders or in military zones. Incoming supplies are extremely scarce, and reports of people killed while trying to access aid are nearly daily."
The UN official stressed:
- "The UN and partners continue calling for improved access to Gaza’s population, unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid, and full protection for civilians."
With U.S. and European support, the Israeli occupation army has continued its genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in:
- 59,219 Palestinian civilians martyred (mostly children and women).
- 143,045 injured (as of today).
- Thousands still trapped under rubble, unreachable by rescue teams due to ongoing bombardment and blockade.
