Occupied Quds – Saba:
Hebrew media outlets reported on Wednesday that an Israeli soldier from the settlement of Rehovot, built on the occupied Palestinian city of Ramla, died by suicide last night—marking the second such case within five days.
According to the Hebrew news site Hadshot HaBezakh, the soldier, identified as Liel Shoham, had served in Gaza and was reportedly suffering from post-war trauma.
This incident follows another suicide on July 5, when a different Israeli soldier set himself on fire in his vehicle, also reportedly due to severe post-traumatic stress after serving in both Gaza and Lebanon.
A June study by Tel Aviv University revealed that 1 in every 8 Israeli soldiers who fought in Gaza is mentally unfit to return to service. The study found that 12% of soldiers reported acute symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), highlighting a serious psychological toll that renders many effectively unfit for duty.
