New York – Saba:
Chelsea FC secured their spot in the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Brazil’s Fluminense 2-0 in a late-night semifinal clash held in New York.
The English side delivered a dominant performance to reach the tournament’s final for the second time in their history, having previously finished as runners-up in 2012 after losing to Brazil’s Corinthians.
Striker João Pedro was the hero for Chelsea, scoring both goals in the 18th and 56th minutes. The team displayed a balanced and controlled performance, leveraging their experience in high-stakes matches. On the other hand, Fluminense struggled defensively and offensively, failing to match Chelsea’s intensity. Both teams were also affected by the challenging weather conditions, with high temperatures during the match.
Chelsea now awaits the winner of the other semifinal between Spain’s Real Madrid and France’s Paris Saint-Germain, set to take place on Wednesday night.
