Ramallah - Saba:
An international legal team is heading to the headquarters of the International Criminal Court in The Hague this Wednesday morning to submit a comprehensive legal file related to the Israeli enemy's violations against Palestinian prisoners in its prisons, in addition to the file of the "crime of genocide and starvation" to which Palestinians are subjected in the Gaza Strip.
Amjad Al-Najjar, Director General of the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, explained that the team completed the preparation of the file some time ago, based on documented testimonies from dozens of prisoners, obtained through cooperation with prisoner institutions inside Palestine.
He emphasized that submitting this file represents a qualitative shift in the path of human rights work, as it will address two main sections: the violations suffered by prisoners, which have led to the martyrdom of dozens of them, and the collective crimes. In Gaza, there has been killing, starvation, and targeting of civilian facilities, he noted, noting that this comes in a step described as the first of its kind in terms of its scale and coordination between Palestinian and international human rights organizations.
He said that work on this case began before the death of renowned French lawyer Gilles Duvere and received broad support from several European institutions that agreed to represent them through their legal team.
The team also received official support from all Palestinian institutions concerned with prisoners' issues, reflecting a national consensus on the importance of bringing the case to international judicial platforms.
For his part, the head of the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, Abdullah al-Zaghari, indicated that the legal team relied on reports and testimonies documenting a "slow, systematic death" inside Israeli prisons.
He said that 73 prisoners had been martyred as a result of torture, medical neglect, or starvation, emphasizing that these crimes are no longer just individual cases, but have transformed into a systematic policy that amounts to crimes against humanity. Al-Zaghari described what is happening in Israeli prisons as a "silent war of extermination," no less brutal. About the open massacres in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Zaghari added that the file includes detailed information about administrative detention, starvation, lack of healthcare, severe beatings, and the denial of proper treatment. He noted that many medical conditions have worsened due to the denial of prisoners' transfer to specialized hospitals, especially among prisoners from the Gaza Strip, who are held in camps that lack even the most basic necessities of human life.
