At least four people have died and 23 others have been rescued after a ferry sank off the Indonesian island of Bali.
Rescuers continued on Thursday to search for 38 people missing in rough seas following the sinking of a ferry near the resort island of Bali.
In a statement, the National Search and Rescue Agency said that the ferry KMP Tuna Pratama Jaya sank about half an hour after departing from Ketapang Port in East Java late Wednesday night.
It added that the ferry was headed to Gilimanuk Port in Bali, a journey of about 50 kilometers (30 miles).
The statement said the ferry was carrying 53 passengers, 12 crew members, and 22 vehicles, including 14 trucks.
Banyuwangi Police Chief Rama Samtama Putra stated that many of those rescued were initially unconscious after being swept away in choppy waters for hours.
