US President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States is closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine's Sumy Oblast, in his first comments on the matter.
In response to a question about the response to the potential advance of Russian forces in Sumy Oblast, Trump told reporters: "We'll see what happens. We're watching the situation very closely."
This coincides with the first actual admission by the Ukrainian General Staff that Ukrainian forces have lost control of a portion of the territory north of Sumy Oblast.
