Washington - Saba:
US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has called on the administration of President Donald Trump to end the Israeli blockade on humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip.
In a letter posted on platform "X" addressed to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and 18 members of Congress on Tuesday, Tlaib stated that the Israeli government has been preventing humanitarian aid from entering Gaza for over three months, leading to the starvation of more than two million people.
"We are outraged by Israel’s use of humanitarian aid as a weapon and its increasing use of starvation as a tool of war," she said.
Tlaib emphasized that all Palestinians in Gaza are at risk of famine, which she described as a violation of both US and international humanitarian law.
Since March 2, Israeli authorities have tightly sealed Gaza’s border crossings, blocking the entry of piled-up aid supplies and allowing only a few dozen trucks to pass. Meanwhile, Palestinians in Gaza require a minimum of 500 trucks per day to meet their basic needs.
