Washington - Saba:
US President Donald Trump criticized the trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the war criminal, and called for its immediate cancellation. He recalled Washington's military support for the occupying entity and considered the corruption charges against Netanyahu a "campaign of persecution".
Trump said in a lengthy message on his Truth Social platform that Netanyahu "deserves far better, and so does the State of Israel. Bibi Netanyahu's trial should be immediately dismissed or he should be pardoned."
Trump, who describes himself as the victim of a "witch hunt" after facing multiple criminal charges and convictions that he views as politically motivated, noted that he "just learned that Bibi was summoned to court on Monday."
Trump concluded his post by recalling US military support for Israel in its confrontation with Iran, saying, "The United States saved Israel, and now the United States will be the one saving Bibi Netanyahu."
Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, are accused of accepting lavish gifts, including cigars, jewelry, and champagne worth more than $260,000, from wealthy individuals in exchange for political favors.
The indictment also includes two cases against Netanyahu, accusing him of seeking more favorable coverage in Israeli media outlets. Netanyahu denies any wrongdoing.
It is worth noting that on November 21, 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for both Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the Israeli occupation government, and Yoav Gallant, former Minister of Defense, on charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
