Tehran - Saba:
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized the destructive approach of the three European countries in supporting the blatant aggression of the Zionist entity during a phone call with Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares on Sunday afternoon.
According to the international news agency Tasnim, the two officials exchanged views on recent developments in the region following the Zionist military aggression against Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Minister pointed out the Zionist entity’s flagrant violation of the principles of the UN Charter and international law amid ongoing Iranian-American negotiations, stating: "Just two days before the sixth round of talks in Muscat, the Zionist entity attacked nuclear facilities and residential areas in Iran, violating Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It is clear that the main objective of this aggression was to destructively influence diplomatic processes and drag others into a fierce war."
Araghchi highlighted the Zionist entity’s repeated attacks on residential areas, which have killed a large number of innocent women and children.
He stated: "The response to aggression is defense, and the Iranian armed forces carried out a fully calculated defensive operation to protect Iran’s national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and support its citizens—a response that will continue firmly until this entity’s aggression ceases."
The Foreign Minister reaffirmed the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
He described the Zionist entity’s attack on the Natanz facility as a major crime against international law and the non-proliferation regime, adding: "Attacking any country’s peaceful nuclear facilities is completely prohibited, especially since Iran’s nuclear program is subject to the strictest inspections and has been approved under UN Security Council Resolution 2231."
Accordingly, Iran reasonably expects all countries, as well as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to condemn this aggression in the strongest possible terms.
For his part, the Spanish Foreign Minister expressed regret over these attacks and the killing of civilians.
He also voiced concern over escalating tensions in the region and affirmed Spain’s readiness to support any efforts in this regard.
