Hodeida – Saba:
A meeting convened on Monday in al-Marawe'ah district of Hodeida governorate, chaired by Ali Qadi, Chairman of the General Authority for Tihama Development, to discuss agricultural and livestock development initiatives.
The discussion centered on Iktifaa Agricultural Cooperative Society's activities and future plans. Attendees, including Ibrahim Shara'i, Director of the General Authority for Tribal Affairs Office, reviewed efforts to advance the agricultural sector, focusing on milk collection and marketing projects.
Challenges like transportation and storage difficulties, and strategies to reduce milk spoilage, were also addressed.
The meeting also covered preparations for the upcoming rainy season, which include the construction of earth barriers to ensure equitable floodwater distribution in Wadi Siham. Plans for the rehabilitation and maintenance of main and secondary irrigation canals and the removal of obstructions from waterways were also reviewed.
Mohammed Hadal, the association's president, provided an update on progress in improving agricultural infrastructure and developing the local production system. He also presented proposals for expanding partnerships to enhance natural resource utilization.
Hadal emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts to strengthen the role of cooperatives in boosting local production and achieving self-sufficiency, commending the association's initiatives in Wadi Siham and their work on water efficiency.
Attendees stressed the need to enhance efforts in marketing agricultural products, developing irrigation canals, and improving the technical skills of association members to advance the agricultural sector in the directorate.
