Gaza - Saba:
The Government Media Office condemned the United States' use of its veto power against an international draft resolution in the Security Council calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and ensuring unhindered access for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, which is facing a comprehensive humanitarian catastrophe and an ongoing crime of genocide at the hands of the Israeli enemy.
The office said in a statement that this shameful American veto, which came despite the support of 14 of the 15 Security Council members for the resolution, is a new stain on the moral record of the United States of America. It clearly expresses its complete alignment with the Israeli killing machine and direct political support for the war crimes committed against Palestinian civilians, especially children, women, the sick, and the elderly.
It added that the justifications and pretexts issued by the American representative and official representatives of the US administration can only be understood within the context of legitimizing genocide, endorsing aggression, and justifying starvation, destruction, and mass killing. This is a flagrant violation of all international norms and conventions, and a blatant challenge to international humanitarian law, UN resolutions, and the principles of justice and fairness.
The office emphasized that this veto is not only biased toward the occupation, but also directly contributes to the ongoing genocide. It underscores Washington's role in obstructing any international efforts to halt the aggression against civilians and save the lives of more than 2.4 million Palestinians trapped in the Gaza Strip, deprived of food, water, and medicine under a barrage of bombing and starvation.
It praised the positions of the countries that supported the draft resolution, stressing that this American position represents a moral, political, and humanitarian failure and will not change the justice of our cause or the steadfastness of our Palestinian people, who will not kneel before the machine of extermination and will not submit to attempts to break their will.
The media office called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take immediate and effective action outside the framework of the Security Council, which is paralyzed by the American veto, to save the lives of innocent people in the Gaza Strip, impose an immediate and comprehensive cessation of the brutal Israeli aggression, ensure the safe and adequate flow of humanitarian aid, and hold the occupation accountable for its ongoing crimes against civilians.
