Oslo – SABA:
Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide on Tuesday stressed the urgent need for Israel to lift its siege on Gaza and allow immediate entry of humanitarian aid.
In press statements, Eide said, “The catastrophe in Gaza is total, and civilians are subjected to repeated and severe violations.”
On May 21, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre warned of possible sanctions and measures against Israel, which could include restrictions on settlement-related activities, individuals, or Israeli products, in response to the ongoing war and violations in Gaza.
Støre also warned of a serious humanitarian collapse in the Gaza Strip, noting that starvation and death now threaten newborn children amid catastrophic living conditions for the population.
He emphasized that denying aid and forcibly displacing civilians constitutes a blatant violation of international law and stressed the urgent need to halt these practices immediately.
