The Customs and Control Office in Taiz today destroyed eight tons of smuggled, prohibited, and expired goods, including cigarettes and medicines.
During the destruction process—attended by a committee formed by the General Customs Authority, headed by the Director-General of Sales and Warehouses, Mohammed Abdullah Aziz—Mohammed Al-Hasani, Deputy Director of the Taiz Customs and Control Office, explained that the destroyed items included approximately 74 different types of goods.
Al-Hasani noted that the destruction was carried out in accordance with legal procedures for expired, prohibited, smuggled, and rejected goods, as per standards regulations. Representatives from the Standards and Metrology Authority, Agriculture, Violations Prosecution, Anti-Smuggling Unit, Security, and Intelligence were present during the operation.
He emphasized that there would be no leniency in seizing expired, smuggled, and unauthorized goods.
