Ramallah - Saba:
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate warned on Sunday of the deteriorating health of detained journalist Ali Samoudi, 58, stressing that continued medical neglect in Israeli prisons puts his life at grave risk.
In a statement, the Syndicate called on all international and human rights organizations to take immediate action and exert pressure to save Samoudi's life, as he suffers from chronic illnesses and requires ongoing medical care. He also suffers from bullet fragments in his head, which he sustained while covering news events years ago.
According to his family, journalist Samoudi has been denied necessary treatment and has been held in difficult detention conditions since his arrest on April 29 from his home in Jenin.
On May 8, he was issued a six-month administrative detention order, bringing the number of journalists under administrative detention to 20, out of 50 journalists still in detention since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023, according to data from the Palestinian Prisoners' Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club.
The enemy deliberately practices a policy of medical neglect against detained Palestinian journalists, putting their lives at serious risk and increasing their suffering in prison. This includes denying them necessary treatment for chronic illnesses.
