Sana’a - Saba:
A training course on occupational safety and health concluded today at the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges. The five-day course was organized by the Corporation’s Vocational Training Center and targeted the safety officers within the institution.
The course aimed to provide participants with theoretical concepts of occupational safety and health, identify potential hazards in work sites, and teach methods for hazard control. It also focused on developing skills for writing safety and incident reports, applying safety checklists, administering basic first aid, and establishing an organizational structure for safety management.
Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Hadhrami, Chairman of the Corporation’s Board, emphasized the importance of the course within the framework of the 1446–2025 training and qualification plan, noting that the corporation—being one of the state’s primary fieldwork arms—attaches great importance to safety.
He affirmed the Corporation’s commitment to applying all required procedures, standards, and conditions to ensure a safe working environment, free from accidents and injuries.
The training covered several topics, including:
- Safety and health concepts
- Sources of information
- Roles and responsibilities
- Risks and injuries in construction, asphalt works, excavation, and cement usage
- Safety measures for these tasks
- Site organization and cleanliness
- Work near active roads
- Slips, trips, and falls
- Equipment and material handling
- Manual lifting techniques
- Hierarchy of hazard control
- Emergency evacuation planning
- Use of personal protective equipment
The course aimed to ensure comprehensive awareness and readiness among safety officers to maintain safe operations across all work sites.
