Paris – SABA:
French activists dyed a fountain in Paris red on Wednesday, symbolizing what they described as the “bloodbath” Palestinians are enduring in Gaza.
According to French media outlets, activists from Oxfam and Amnesty International poured red dye into the fountain in the heart of the French capital as a symbolic expression of the cries of innocent civilians in Gaza. Others held up signs reading “Ceasefire” and “Gaza: Stop the Bloodbath.”
In a joint statement, the activists — including the French branch of Greenpeace — said:
“This action aims to condemn France’s slow response to the absolute humanitarian emergency facing the people of Gaza today.”
Former minister and Executive Director of Oxfam France, Cécile Duflot, stated:
“France cannot limit itself to verbal condemnation only.”
Clémence La Guardia, who coordinated Oxfam’s humanitarian response in Gaza, condemned the Israeli blockade of the besieged enclave, saying:
“People in Gaza need everything. It’s a matter of survival.”
