Gaza - Saba:
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned of the "catastrophic" conditions facing premature babies in the nurseries of Gaza's hospitals, given the severe shortage of medical equipment and fuel, and frequent power outages.
Nasser Balbal, a consultant and head of the nursery department at the Solidarity Caravans Hospital affiliated with the Al-Shifa Complex, said in a press statement that "malnutrition and the siege have led to a significant increase in premature births, and most newborns suffer from serious health complications."
Balbal noted that the intensive care units for premature babies "lack incubators, respirators, and oxygen concentrators," and are currently running on generators that are in danger of shutting down due to the severe diesel shortage.
