Egypt welcomed the ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan, following the success of US mediation in de-escalating tensions between the two neighboring countries.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed in an official statement that "this development represents a pivotal step toward achieving the desired calm, enhancing security and stability in the South Asian region and supporting the aspirations of the Indian and Pakistani peoples for peace and development."
Egypt praised the US efforts that resulted in this agreement, expressing its hope that both parties will adhere to the terms of the ceasefire, which will contribute to building mutual trust and opening horizons for constructive dialogue.
The statement called on the United States to intensify its efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, with the aim of ending the suffering of the Palestinian people and promoting regional and international peace and security.
Egypt affirmed that "the success of mediation in the India-Pakistan crisis enhances the importance of the international role in resolving conflicts, which Egypt hopes will be reflected in efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Arab region."
