Geneva - Saba:
Amnesty International today, Wednesday, urged Israel to abandon its plans to annex Gaza and forcibly displace Palestinians.
In a statement, the organization emphasized that Israel continues to commit genocide in Gaza, and any forced displacement of Palestinians in the southern part of the enclave constitutes a war crime.
It added that "Israel is planning a terrifying escalation by seizing land in Gaza and indefinitely displacing the majority of the population."
The statement continued, "Israel is using the release of detainees as a pretext to justify further crimes and violations against Palestinians."
Amnesty stressed that the occupation’s plans to control and militarize the distribution of humanitarian aid will undermine its delivery.
It also condemned Israel’s blockade of food and medicine from Gaza for over two months, describing it as an unlawful weapon of war and collective punishment.
