Lebanese President Joseph Aoun confirmed on Thursday that "the Lebanese Army continues its deployment in the occupied towns from which the Zionist occupation army withdrew in southern Lebanon."
During his reception of UNIFIL Commander General Aroldo Lazaro at Baabda Palace in Beirut, Aoun said that the Lebanese Army is taking over the southern towns from which Israel withdrew, clearing them of mines and removing all armed manifestations, despite the vastness of the southern lands and their nature, which takes time.
Aoun indicated that "the continued Israeli occupation of the five hills must end as soon as possible to ensure stability and security along the southern border, paving the way for the complete return of residents to their villages."
It is worth noting that the Israeli enemy army consistently holds the Lebanese government responsible for the rocket fire from southern Lebanon towards the Upper Galilee region in occupied Palestine. It has also launched a series of raids and artillery shelling targeting several towns in the south and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
