Spain's Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the semifinals of the Indian Wells Tennis Championships, after defeating Argentina's Francesco Cerundolo, on Friday in the quarterfinals.

The world number three and second-ranked Spaniard succeeded in winning the match in two sets without reply (6-3, 7-6, 7-6).

Russia's Daniil Medvedev, last year's runner-up, qualified after beating France's Arthur Villegas in two sets to one.

The world number six and fifth-ranked Russian player managed to win the match by / 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 /.

Medvedev reached his 13th semi-final on hard courts at the Masters Championships, and is looking to continue the successful journey, but he will face a tough semi-final match, where he will meet Denmark's Holger Rune, who also beat Talon Grikspoor of the Netherlands in two sets to one.
