US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that Washington wants to discuss with Russia its confiscated assets, as well as the commercial interests of affected American companies, once a settlement is reached to the conflict in Ukraine.

Rubio said during an interview, according to what was reported by the "Sputnik" agency: "There are opportunities to work together, and it is clear that this will include talking not only about Russian assets that have been frozen by the Europeans or the United States or any other party, but also talking about American companies that have been affected."

Rubio added that this matter will be part of broader talks on how to reset relations between the two countries.

Rubio stressed that Volodymyr Zelensky's demand that Ukraine obtain nuclear weapons, instead of joining NATO, is unrealistic and does not represent a solution to the problem. High-level Russian-American talks took place in Riyadh last Tuesday.

As announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the parties agreed to create conditions for the full resumption of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the United States and its expansion to new areas of mutual interest.
